Episode 4: Speak Gigantular

March 19, 2018

Linda Mannheim talks to Irenosen Okojie about Speak Gigantular (download from iTunes or Soundcloud).

Speak Gigantular has been called “a startling short story collection from one of Britain’s rising literary stars, weaving together the grand aspects of myths and fairy tales with the dark but all-too-real depths of human nature."

Shortlisted for the Jhalak Prize and the Saboteur Awards, Speak Gigantular is published by Jacaranda Books. The editor in this episode is Valerie Brandes, who talks about how she met Irenosen Okojie at a literary event and why Jacaranda Books decided to publish the collection.

The reader in this episode is Yovanka Paquete Perdigao, who saw Irenosen Okojie speak at an event and picked up a copy of Speak Gigantular afterwards. She talks about why she loved the book, even though it is unlike the kind of fiction she usually reads.
